Soliton microcomb based spectral domain optical coherence tomography

open access: yes, 2020
Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is a widely used and minimally invaive technique for bio-medical imaging [1]. SD-OCT typically relies on the use of superluminescent diodes (SLD), which provide a low-noise and broadband optical ...

Optical coherence tomography for vulnerability assessment of sandstone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sandstone is an important cultural heritage material, in both architectural and natural settings, such as neolithic rock art panels. The majority of deterioration effects in porous materials such as sandstone are influenced by the presence and movement ...

Optical Coherence Tomography in Glaucoma

open access: yesJournal of Current Glaucoma Practice, 2012
The optic disk and the RNFL are the principal sites of apparent glaucomatous damage which precedes glaucomatous visual field alterations. RNFL defects are known to precede detection of visual field defects by approximately 6 years. Accurate early detection and monitoring of ONH and RNFL defects has become the prime focus of effective management of ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Choroidal neovascularization associated with combined hamartoma of retina and retinal pigment epithelium: Multimodal imaging

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Combined hamartoma of retina and retinal pigment epithelium (CHRRPE) has been considered as a congenital benign entity with evidence of choroidal neovascularization membranes (CNVM) being associated with it in literature.

Optical coherence tomography with a Fizeau interferometer configuration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report the investigation of a Fizeau interferometer-based OCT system. A secondary processing interferometer is necessary in this configuration, to compensate the optical path difference formed in the Fizeau interferometer between the end of the ...

Speckle in Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 1999
Speckle arises as a natural consequence of the limited spatial-frequency bandwidth of the interference signals measured in optical coherence tomography (OCT). In images of highly scattering biological tissues, speckle has a dual role as a source of noise and as a carrier of information about tissue microstructure.

Interfacial Contact Engineering Enables Giant‐Performance Semiconductor Nanomembrane Optoelectronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work investigates modifying interfacial contacts in realizing giant‐performance semiconductor nanomembrane optoelectronics. Strategies, including surface reaction and buffer layer work‐function modulation, are explored to boost the Schottky barrier. An emerging material of YbOx is utilized for near‐ideal Ohmic contact.
