Lactate Accelerates Early Angiogenesis and Bone Regeneration Through Macrophage M1 Polarisation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 7, July 2026.
During the early stage of bone defect healing, lactate accumulates and contributes to increasing NOD1 expression by stabilising HIF1α that in turn triggers a calcium influx, which ultimately polarises macrophages towards the M1 phenotype and accelerates vascularisation of endothelial cells.

Electric Cataract After High‐Voltage Craniofacial Injury With Preserved Optic Nerve Microvasculature: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐voltage craniofacial electrical injury may result in delayed cataract without optic nerve damage. Multimodal structural and functional assessment supports accurate prognostication, and when posterior segment integrity is preserved, visual recovery after cataract surgery is typically excellent and sustained.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) for assessing thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy activity

open access: yesPhotodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy
To explore the role of retinal and choroidal parameters obtained via optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in predicting thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) activity, providing a scientific basis for improved clinical diagnosis and treatment. This study included 90 active TAO patients (178 eyes), 69 ...

Foundation Models in Diagnosis of Ophthalmic Diseases: Construction and Application

open access: yesEye &ENT Research, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 45-58, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence holds promise for addressing the uneven distribution of medical resources across different regions. Compared with convolutional neural network models, foundation models offer significant advantages: on one hand, their pre‐training does not rely on massive labeled data; on the other hand, they possess the capability to ...
