Optical Communication Without Photons [PDF]
I analyse a recent quantum communication protocol by Salih et al. that allows one to communicate without any particle carrying the information from the sender to the receiver. I show how this can equally be achieved using classical communication.

Spatiotemporal communication with synchronized optical chaos [PDF]
We propose a model system that allows communication of spatiotemporal information using an optical chaotic carrier waveform. The system is based on broad-area nonlinear optical ring cavities, which exhibit spatiotemporal chaos in a wide parameter range.

Roadmap of optical communications [PDF]
© 2016 IOP Publishing Ltd. Lightwave communications is a necessity for the information age. Optical links provide enormous bandwidth, and the optical fiber is the only medium that can meet the modern society's needs for transporting massive amounts of data over long distances.

Performance Metrics for Communication Systems with Forward Error Correction [PDF]
We revisit performance metrics for optical communication systems with FEC. We illustrate the concept of universality and discuss the most widespread performance thresholds. Finally, we show by example how to include FEC into transmission experiments.

Bandwidth Control in Computer- Generated Holography
The Fourier transform between the time and frequency signals of light enables highly efficient band usage in optical communications. Analogously, the Fourier transform between the wavefield and wavevector distributions in the optical spatial diffraction ...

Investigation of Fan In and Fan Out Technologies for Multi Core Fiber
Spatial division multiplexing based on the multi-core fiber has been believed as a promising and effective way to overcome the foreseeable capacity crunch of single mode fiber transmission. Fan-in Fan-out (FIFO) technology for multi-core fiber is the key
