Fabrication and Characterization of Nickel Chloride Doped PMMA Films

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
Films of PMMA and PMMA doped with NiCl2 with different contents were prepared using the casting technique. The optical properties of all films were investigated using spectrophotometric measurements of absorbance and transmittance in the wavelength range

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Optical constants of Cu ZnSnS bulk crystals

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2009
The dielectric functions of Cu2ZnSnS4 bulk crystals grown by the Bridgman method were measured over the energy range 0.8 to 4.7 eV at room temperature using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry. The spectral dependence of complex refractive index,

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Spectral, Angular and Polarizing Properties of Semiconductor Photodiodes Covering the Near-Infrared to Soft X-Ray Range

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science
Some windowless semiconductor photodiodes can detect not only photons but also charged particles, cover a wide spectral range including a part of the ionizing radiation region and, thus, play important roles for synchrotron radiation experiments.

OPTICAL CONSTANTS AND THEIR MEASUREMENT [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1977
A description of the optical properties of solids, especially metals, in terms of a dielectric function is outlined, along with some of its limitations. Methods of deriving this function from measurements are outlined as well. Errors due to sample preparation, rather than measurement errors, are emphasized.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...
