Stochastic Models for Local Optical Flow Estimation

In this paper, we present a stochastic interpretation of the motion estimation problem. The usual optical flow constraint equation (assuming that the points keep their brightness along time), embed for instance within a Lucas-Kanade estimator, can indeed be seen as the minimization of a stochastic process under some strong constraints.

Second Order Variational Optic Flow Estimation

In this paper we present a variational approach to accurately estimate the motion vector field in a image sequence introducing a second order Taylor expansion of the flow in the energy function to be minimized. This feature allows us to simultaneously obtain, in addition, an estimation of the partial derivatives of the motion vector field.

Optical Flow Estimation Using Genetic Algorithms

This paper illustrates a new optical flow estimation technique, which builds upon a genetic algorithm (GA). First, the current frame is segmented into generic shape regions, using only brightness information. For each region a two-parameter motion model is estimated using a GA.
