In-vivo optical investigation of psoriasis

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease of the skin characterized by hyperkeratosis, hyperproliferation of the epidermis, inflammatory cell accumulation and increased dilatation of dermal papillary blood vessels. Cases of psoriasis were investigated in vivo with optical means in order to evaluate the potential of in vivo optical biopsy.

Optical computing and investigations on writing

Applied Optics, 1976
In previous years several methods have been developed for extracting significant information parameters contained in written, typed, or printed texts. They have shown that some models (optical, mathematical, or hybrid) could be described for linear and nonlinear operations.

Optical Investigation of Impurities in Superfluid 4He

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 1997
This review is devoted to optical studies of foreign particles in superfluid4He. Starting with single excess electrons, helium ions and metastable helium atoms, various methods for the implantation of these species into the quantum fluid are summarized.

The investigation of an optical klystron

Proceedings of the Eleventh International Free Electron Laser Conference, 1990
The feasibility of developing an amplifier in the optical klystron configuration at wavelengths of 1-2 mm has been investigated. The effect of beam velocity spread on the efficiency and gain of the optical klystron is taken into account. These were found to be more sensitive to beam velocity spread for three than for two cavities.

Cryostats for optical investigations

Cryogenics, 1960
WE describe here some cryostats for optical investigations. These instruments have been utilized in our laboratory for several years, and have been found to be quite satisfactory. They are cheap to make and easy to use, and they are therefore convenient for research workers who are not used to low temperature techniques. We feel that the description of

Investigation of Optical Fibers for Nonlinear Optics.

1983
Abstract : The principal objective of this research program is to develop single-crystal (SC) fibers for use in nonliner optical devices. This encompasses measurement of physical and chemical properties of several candidate materials, fabrication of SC fibers, and investigation of nonlinear optical applications.

Investigation of optical mixing

2010
The effect of mixing two intense ruby laser beams in a plasma and in a gas has been investigated by means of light scattering. In both media, large density modulations are shown to exist in the field of the two mixed beams. With plasma, light scattered coherently from a third beam has been observed with intensities of over 100 times that scattered by ...
