Optical reflectometry with micrometer resolution for the investigation of integrated optical devices

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1989
An optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) system using an infrared subpicosecond pulse source in conjunction with balanced heterodyne detection is discussed. Experimental results show a density of more than 100 dB and a resolution of 60 mu m in air.

Optical and Raman investigation of Yb pnictide compounds

Physical Review B, 1993
We report on our thorough optical investigations of the Yb pnictide compounds, performed over a large photon-energy spectral range. From Kramers-Kronig analysis we obtain the complete excitation spectrum in terms of the optical dielectric functions. Applying a phenomenological harmonic-oscillator model we extract the unscreened plasma frequency and the

Investigation of optical mixing

2010
The effect of mixing two intense ruby laser beams in a plasma and in a gas has been investigated by means of light scattering. In both media, large density modulations are shown to exist in the field of the two mixed beams. With plasma, light scattered coherently from a third beam has been observed with intensities of over 100 times that scattered by ...

Optical investigation of metamagnetic DyAlO3

Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and nuclei, 1969
We have investigated the optical absorption spectra of metamagnetic DyAlO3 (T N =3.4 °K) above and below the Neel temperature. We find that the magnetic interactions are predominantly between the ions along the crystallographicc-axis; the interaction energy between two ions isW C =− (

Optical investigations of silica aerogels

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1992
This paper presents data on the scattering behaviour of base-catalyzed silica aerogels at a wavelength of 633 nm. Scattering from the bulk, which is nearly isotropic, and scattering from the surface, which is strongly forward peaked, were detected. The former can be influenced by changing the processing pH value and the density, but the latter has not ...

Investigation of Optical Properties of Otoliths with Optical Trapping

2018
Investigating the functioning of biological system often ask to, not only image the different processes and elements involved, but also manipulate them to find information that could not be found visually, such as forces of motion, strength of bondings, elasticity, viscosity to cite a few.
