Label-Controlled Optical Packet Routing—Technologies and Applications [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2007
An overview is given of various optical packet labeling techniques. The architecture and technologies are discussed for optical packet routing nodes using orthogonal labeling with opto-electronic label processing, and for nodes using time-serial labeling with all-optical time-serial label processing.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

A new texture-based labeling framework for hyper-reflective foci identification in retinal optical coherence tomography images

open access: yesScientific Reports
An important abnormality in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) images is Hyper-Reflective Foci (HRF). This anomaly can be interpreted as a biomarker of serious retinal diseases such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Diabetic Macular Edema ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Freshness/spoilage monitoring of protein-rich foods by betacyanin-loaded gelatin/carboxymethyl cellulose halochromic labels

open access: yesFuture Foods
In the present investigation, easy-to-use colorimetric on-package labels were developed based on gelatin/carboxymethyl cellulose films loaded with betacyanin-rich Mirabilis jalapa extract (MJE) for freshness tracking of shrimp and minced meat. The effect

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Structural color‐based physical unclonable function

open access: yesResponsive Materials
Commodity fraud poses significant economic and public health risks while jeopardizing market stability. A promising avenue for addressing this issue involves the incorporation of physical unclonable function (PUF) in anti‐counterfeiting labels for ...
