Anisotropic contrast optical microscope

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2016
An optical microscope is described that reveals contrast in the Mueller matrix images of a thin, transparent, or semi-transparent specimen located within an anisotropic object plane (anisotropic filter). The specimen changes the anisotropy of the filter and thereby produces contrast within the Mueller matrix images.

Far-field mapping of the longitudinal magnetic and electric optical fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this letter, we demonstrate the experimental mapping of the longitudinal magnetic and electric optical fields with a standard scanning microscope that involves a high numerical aperture far-field objective.

Scanned-cantilever atomic force microscope [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We have developed a 3.6 µm scan range atomic force microscope that scans the cantilever instead of the sample, while the optical-lever detection apparatus remains stationary.

Kawabata Analysis of Cotton Denim Fabrics Treated with Industrial Washing Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
Garment washing of denim fabrics is essential for fading of color, aesthetic effects, vintage look and improvement in handle properties of resulting garments. Denim fabrics of two types, one standard fabric (non-stretch) and other with 2% elastane fiber (

Nanoscale coherent imaging of photonic structures by PSTM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present an alternative instrument to map local optical field distributions: a photon scanning tunneling microscope (PSTM). In a PSTM a near-field optical fiber probe is used to frustrate the evanescent field above an integrated optical device.

Extended the depth of field and zoom microscope with varifocal lens

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Extending the depth of field (DOF) is especially essential in thick and 3D sample imaging. However, it's difficult to achieve both large DOF and high resolution in a zoom microscope.
