Resonant scanning optical microscope
Applied Optics, 1978The enhancement of nonlinear interactions in the scanning optical microscope by placing the object in a resonant cavity is discussed. The effect of resonance of the primary radiation is also considered. Practical geometries for the resonant scanning optical microscope are given.

Optical Microscopic Tomography
SPIE Proceedings, 1985A new principle to obtain sectional images of a thick specimen by a conventional optical microscope without physically slicing is developed. The optical microscope with an off-axis pupil is used to project a 3-D distribution of the specimen in various directions within the numerical aperture of the objective lens.

Optical Heterodyne Scanning Microscope
Applied Optics, 1973A new optical heterodyne scanning microscope is described in which both the illumination beam and reference beam scan the object in synchronization. Characteristics of the microscope are similar to those of the laser scanning microscope. The present system, however, has additional advantages in that the object illumination can be at least one order of ...

Micromachined scanning confocal optical microscope
Optics Letters, 1996We have constructed a miniature confocal optical microscope for monochromatic imaging that uses single-mode fiber illumination and a two-phase off-axis zone plate objective lens. The scanning mechanism consists of two micromachined silicon torsional scanning mirrors with orthogonal axes of rotation.

Electronics and Power, 1980
The scanning optical microscope uses a laser spot to examine a specimen. This technique improves on the resolution and contrast of the conventional microscope, and so has particular advantages for the study of semiconductor materials and devices and living biological ...

Fiber-optic confocal microscope: FOCON
Applied Optics, 1992A new design for a reflecting fiber-optic confocal microscope, FOCON, is presented in which the beam splitter of a conventional confocal microscope is replaced by a fiber-optic splitter, and the core of a single-mode fiber takes the place of both the source and detector pinholes.

Field-enhanced scanning optical microscope
Optics Letters, 2000We present experimental results of an imaging technique that uses as a local probe the optical field enhanced at the junction of a scanning tunneling microscope illuminated by a p-polarized laser beam. Images of highly oriented pyrolithic graphite, recorded at a constant height mode, show a lateral optical resolution of as much as 10 nm.

Maskless optical microscope lithography system
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009A simple maskless photolithography system employing an optical microscope, a motorized stage and a beam blanker is proposed. Based on a pattern design, the motorized stage shifts a resist-coated substrate exposed by a focused beam under a microscope.
