The optical modelling of the human lens

Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 1991
The effect of varying lens shape factors and refractive index distribution on two lens performance characteristics (equivalent power and spherical aberration) are considered, using a mathematical model of the human lens which is based upon ellipsoidal iso‐indical contours.

Optical tweezers: Theory and modelling

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2014
Since their development in the 1980s, optical tweezers have become a widely used and versatile tool in many fields. Outstanding applications include the quantitative measurement of forces in cell biology and biophysics. Computational modelling of optical tweezers is a valuable tool in support of experimental work, especially quantitative applications ...

On a Decomposition Model for Optical Flow

2009
In this paper we present a variational method for determining cartoon and texture components of the optical flow of a noisy image sequence. The method is realized by reformulating the optical flow problem first as a variational denoising problem for multi-channel data and then by applying decomposition methods.

Optically gated MOSFET modeling

Proceedings of the International Conference and Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology, 2010
In the recent decades, interest has been shown by the researcher towards the modeling of the optical effects on MOSFET with submicron channel length. It is mainly because device is expected to emerge as potential device to be integrated as MMIC, OEIC and ASIC for optical based system particularly optical communication. Present paper makes an attempt to

Optical associatron: a simple model for optical associative memory

Applied Optics, 1989
A new neural network architecture for optical computing is proposed. This architecture can be used for implementing a simple system based on a modified theory of the associative memories. It is shown that the memorized patterns can be recalled perfectly by an experimental system using two microchannel spatial light modulators.

Optical model for use in oceanic ecosystem models

Applied Optics, 1999
Modeling the plankton ecosystem requires a code for simulating the profile of irradiance from the chlorophyll profile at each time step of the integration. We have compared two existing codes with data from the Biogeochemical Ocean Flux Study: the Hydrolight radiative transfer model is accurate but too slow to use interactively in ecological models ...

Simple stochastic model for optical tunneling

Physical Review E, 2002
A simple model, derived from a Brownian-motion scheme, is capable of interpreting the results of delay-time measurements relative to frustrated total reflection experiments at the microwave scale but also in the visible region. In this framework we also obtain a plausible description of the trajectories (rays) inside the tunneling region, the air gap ...
