Impacts of Device Geometry and Layout on Temperature Profile during Large‐Area Photonic Curing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates how gate geometry affects peak curing temperature during photonic curing of solution‐processed indium zinc oxide thin‐film transistors. Using 3D simulations and experimental validation, it reveals that larger gate areas and smaller aspect ratios increase curing temperature and thus improve transistor performance. Findings provide

Fast tunable lasers in radio-over-fiber access networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The authors present a novel concept of employing optical wavelength packet switching (WPS) in radio-over-fiber (RoF) access networks. The Central Station is equipped with a fast tunable laser (TL), which is externally modulated with a data signal ...

Combining Metal Additive Manufacturing and Casting Technology: High Performance Cooling Channels for Electric Powertrain Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
When realized as inserts in high‐pressure die casting, aluminum cooling channels for electric powertrain components and similar applications typically require a stabilizing filler to survive the process. The present study investigates relinquishing this filler using additively manufactured inserts promising performance improvements.

An ultra fast optical header replacement technology and its application for broadband optical packet switch. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
An optical header replacement technology based on Self Electro-optic Effect Devices (SEEDs) is presented. By using the measurement result of a 75 μm long SEED device, we simulate an 8 Gbps throughput is achievable.

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.

Constructing Sub-exponentially Large Optical Priority Queues with Switches and Fiber Delay Lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Optical switching has been considered as a natural choice to keep pace with growing fiber link capacity. One key research issue of all-optical switching is the design of optical queues by using optical crossbar switches and fiber delay lines (SDL). In this paper, we focus on the construction of an optical priority queue with a single $(M+2)\times (M+2)$

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

Efficient, High-Fidelity Single-Photon Switch Based on Waveguide-Coupled Cavities [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. A 110, 042615 (2024)
We demonstrate theoretically that waveguide-coupled cavities with embedded two-level emitters can act as a highly efficient, high-fidelity single-photon switch. The photon switch is an optical router triggered by a classical signal -- the propagation direction of single input photons in the waveguide is controlled by changing the emitter-cavity ...
