Disorientated optical polarization devices
Optics Letters, 2011By using a pure operatorial (nonmatrix) approach to some of the variable composite polarization devices, we show that for some values of the variable internal parameters, these devices lose their anisotropy. Their principal axes, or more generally their eigenvectors, become undetermined, i.e., in this sense, the anisotropic devices get "disorientated."

Polarization and optical logic
Applied Optics, 1986The design of an optical logic parallel processor is described. The central component is a Fabry-Perot cavity, filled with a nonlinear layer and a linear anisotropic layer, such as a sheet of mica. The two logic states are represented by two orthogonal states of the polarization of the light beam.

Optics Letters, 2005We present, experimentally and theoretically, a polymer material system that supports optical spatial solitons of circular polarization. We demonstrate one-dimensional circularly polarized dark solitons supported by photoisomerization nonlinearity in a bulk polymer.
