Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Evaluation of the Scintillation Loss for Optical Communication Systems with Direct Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In optical communications through the atmosphere, the evaluation of a link feasibility often requires the quantification of the scintillation penalty in terms of power loss. To find how much additional optical power is needed to reach the bit-error-rate (

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

Optical Label Switching Functionalities Employing Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Optical labelling of data packets enables high router throughputs. Semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) are key building blocks to implement the functionalities required for fast optical label ...

Mutant p53R273H disrupts PDPK1 homodimerization and contributes to PDPK1 activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
How mutant p53R273H drives AKT signaling is unclear. We show that p53R273H, but not wild‐type, directly binds PDPK1 via a mutation‐dependent conformational change. This interaction disrupts inhibitory PDPK1 homodimerization and enhances AKT phosphorylation.

The property market in China

open access: yes, 2001
Since the new land tenure system, known as the Land Use Rights system (LUR), was introduced in 1978, there has been significant development in the Chinese property market.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

INVESTIGATION ON OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF BILAYER GRAPHENE

open access: yesDiyala Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2015
In this paper, a theoretical study on the optical and electrical properties of bilayer graphene is presented. Graphene with a single atomic layer of carbon and outstanding optical properties is an ideal nominee on sensor application because of high ...
