We propose a concept of a structure-a resonant optical gun-to realize an efficient propulsion of dielectric microparticles by light forces. The structure is based on a waveguide in which a reversal of the electromagnetic momentum flow of the incident mode is realized by exciting a whispering gallery resonance in the microparticle.

Multiwall MoS2 tubes as optical resonators
Applied Physics Letters, 2018We study the optical properties of MoS2 nanotubes (NTs) with walls comprising dozens of monolayers. We reveal strong peaks in micro-photoluminescence (μ-PL) spectra when detecting the light polarized along the NT axis.

Cross Resonant Optical Antenna
Physical Review Letters, 2009We propose a novel cross resonant optical antenna consisting of two perpendicular nanosized gold dipole antennas with a common feed gap. We demonstrate that the cross antenna is able to convert propagating fields of any polarization state into correspondingly polarized, localized, and enhanced fields and vice versa.

This paper reviews the current level of theoretical understanding and experimental confirmation of the properties of unstable optical resonators for laser oscillators. A primary conclusion is that for any laser system characterized by a moderate gain per pass and a Fresnel number greater than a few times unity the unstable resonator provides the best ...

A technique, firmly based on a development from ray optics, is presented for calculating the loss due to the finite sizes of curved mirrors when these form an unstable optical resonator. If paraxial rays launched within such a resonator are confined near the resonator axis, the resonator is termed stable; otherwise it is termed unstable, and is known ...

Unstable Optical Resonators: Comment

Optically resonant dielectric nanostructures
Science, 2016A clear approach to nanophotonics The resonant modes of plasmonic nanoparticle structures made of gold or silver endow them with an ability to manipulate light at the nanoscale. However, owing to the high light losses caused by metals at optical wavelengths, only a small fraction of plasmonics applications have been realized ...

Resonant scanning optical microscope
Applied Optics, 1978The enhancement of nonlinear interactions in the scanning optical microscope by placing the object in a resonant cavity is discussed. The effect of resonance of the primary radiation is also considered. Practical geometries for the resonant scanning optical microscope are given.
