Condition for resonant optical bistability [PDF]
We address a two-level system in an environment interacting with an electromagnetic field in the dipole approximation. The resonant optical bistability induced by local-field effects is studied by considering the relationship between the population difference and the excitation field.

Optical Helmholtz resonators [PDF]
Helmholtz resonators are widely used acoustic components able to select a single frequency. Here, based on an analogy between acoustics and electromagnetism wave equations, we present an electromagnetic 2D Helmholtz resonator made of a metallic slit-box structure.

In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Efficiency and Scalability of Dielectric Resonator Antennas at Optical Frequencies
Dielectric resonators have been foreseen as a pathway for the realization of highly efficient nanoantennas and metamaterials at optical frequencies. In this paper, we study the resonant behavior of dielectric nanocylinders located on a metal plane, which

Optical Interconnection Architectures based on Microring Resonators [PDF]
: Microring resonators are an interesting device to build integrated optical interconnects, but their asymmetric loss behavior could limit the scalability of classical optical interconnects.

Supercooling of Atoms in an Optical Resonator
We investigate laser cooling of an ensemble of atoms in an optical cavity. We demonstrate that when atomic dipoles are sychronized in the regime of steady-state superradiance, the motion of the atoms may be subject to a giant frictional force leading to potentially very low temperatures.

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Label-Free Single Exosome Detection Using Frequency-Locked Microtoroid Optical Resonators
Recently exosomes have attracted interest due to their potential as cancer biomarkers. We report the real-time, label-free sensing of single exosomes in serum using microtoroid optical resonators.

High-Q dielectric Mie-resonant nanostructures (a mini-review) [PDF]
Future technologies underpinning high-performance optical communications, ultrafast computations and compact biosensing will rely on densely packed reconfigurable optical circuitry based on nanophotonics. For many years, plasmonics was considered as the only available platform for nanoscale optics, but the recently emerged novel field of Mie resonant ...
