High-speed measurement of rotational anisotropy nonlinear optical harmonic generation using position sensitive detection [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters 40, 4671-4674 (2015), 2015
We present a method of performing high-speed rotational anisotropy nonlinear optical harmonic generation experiments at rotational frequencies of several hertz by projecting the harmonic light reflected at different angles from a sample onto a stationary position sensitive detector.

Teleporting a rotation on remote photons

open access: yes, 2005
Quamtum remote rotation allows implement local quantum operation on remote systems with shared entanglement. Here we report an experimental demonstration of remote rotation on single photons using linear optical element.

Nanoscale rotational optical manipulation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
Light has momentum, and hence, it can move small particles. The optical tweezer, invented by Ashkin et al. [Opt. Lett. 11, 288 (1986)] is a representative application. It traps and manipulates microparticles and has led to great successes in the biosciences.

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

Optical and SAR Image Registration Based on the Phase Congruency Framework

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The improved phase congruency (PC) algorithms have been successfully applied to optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image registration since they are insensitive to nonlinear radiometric and geometric differences.

Linear Rotary Optical Delay Lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
I present several classes of analytical and semi-analytical solutions for the design of high-speed rotary optical delay lines that use a combination of stationary and rotating curvilinear reflectors. Detailed analysis of four distinct classes of optical delay lines is presented. Particularly, I consider delay lines based on a single rotating reflector,

X-ray Properties of Pre--Main-Sequence Stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster with Known Rotation Periods

open access: yes, 2004
We re-analyze all archival Chandra/ACIS observations of the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) to study the X-ray properties of a large sample of pre--main-sequence (PMS) stars with optically determined rotation periods. Our goal is to elucidate the origins of X-

Knockout of the mitoribosome rescue factors Ict1 or Mtrfr is viable in zebrafish but not mice: compensatory mechanisms underlying each factor's loss

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Achromatic polarization rotator with tunable rotation angle [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Opt. 21 (2019) 105403 (5pp), 2019
We theoretically suggest and experimentally demonstrate a broadband composite optical rotator that is capable of rotating the polarization plane of a linearly-polarized light at any chosen angle. The device is composed of an even number of half-wave plates rotated at specific angles with respect to their fast-polarization axes.
