Optical signal to noise ratio monitoring using single channel sampling technique

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
In this paper, we propose a novel method to depict 2-dimension (2-D) phase portrait by using single-channel-sampling (SCS) technique, which can be used for optical performance monitoring. Single low speed sampling scheme reduces cost and complexity of monitoring system setup significantly.

Amplification and phase noise transfer of a Kerr microresonator soliton comb for low phase noise THz generation with a high signal-to-noise ratio. [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
Optical injection locking is implemented to faithfully transfer the phase noise of a dissipative Kerr microresonator soliton comb in addition to the amplification of the Kerr comb.

Study on the signal-to-noise ratio of Brillouin optical-time domain analyzers.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of Brillouin optical time-domain analyzers (BOTDA) is modelled and experimentally validated, using direct detection with and without the use of optical pre-amplification.

Watt-level ultrahigh-optical signal-to-noise ratio single-longitudinal-mode tunable Brillouin fiber laser. [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2012
A watt-level ultrahigh optical signal-to-noise ratio single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) tunable Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) has been demonstrated. By optimizing the length of the single mode fiber (SMF) cavity at 11 m and its output ratio at 60%, 1.04 W ...

Signal-to-noise ratio analysis of computational distributed fiber-optic sensing

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
In this work, we analyze the signal-to-noise ratio of the computational distributed fiber-optic sensing technique via differential ghost imaging in the time domain using the illumination pattern of Walsh-Hadamard sequences instead of random sequences.

Detection of amplitude modulation with squeezed light for sensitivity beyond the shot-noise limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
An improvement in precision beyond the limit set by the vacuum-state or zero-point fluctuations of the electromagnetic field is reported for the detection of amplitude modulation encoded on a weak signal beam. The improvement is achieved by employing the

Weak value amplification in a shot-noise limited interferometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the weak-value amplification (WVA) in a phase measurement with an optical interferometer in which shot noise limits the sensitivity. We compute the signal and the shot noise including the full-order interaction terms of the WVA, and show that ...
