Performance Analysis of Microwave Photonic Spectral Filters based on Optical Microcombs
A comprehensive analysis of microcomb‐based microwave spectral filters based on the transversal filter approach is presented. Theoretical limitations in the filter spectral response from finite tap numbers, experimental errors, and the influence of the input signal's bandwidth are all analyzed.

The authors discuss opportunities, challenges and requirements for successful commercialisation of space division multiplexing (SDM) in optical networks. The authors consider recent developments in SDM technology and focus on the importance of different geometrical parameters when designing multi‐core fibres and on the design choices for shared SDM ...

The performance of a gray‐coded dual polarization‐16 quadrature amplitude modulation (DP‐16 QAM)–based multiple input multiple output (MIMO)‐FSO link using coherent detection and digital signal processing (DSP) is investigated. The MIMO link is used to mitigate geometric loss, atmospheric attenuation, and atmospheric turbulence.

Multicore (MC‐) erbium‐doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) architecture is classified from the viewpoint of the number of erbium‐doped fibre (EDF) cores and its pumping method. In particular, the advantages of cladding pumped MC‐EDFA are shown. Abstract Amplification technologies needed for spatial division multiplexing (SDM) signal transmission have been ...

1. The data‐free guided coherent reception DSP algorithm proposed based on spectral clustering can effectively suppress a variety of physical damage and increase the system’s OSNR tolerance. 2. When the bit error rate is 1.9E‐2, the spectral clustering‐based data‐agnostic DSP solution extends the maximum transmission distance of a 14GBaud PM‐16QAM ...
