Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.

Dipole-Mode Vector Solitons

open access: yes, 1999
We find a new type of optical vector soliton that originates from trapping of a dipole mode by a soliton-induced waveguide. These solitons, which appear as a consequence of the vector nature of the two component system, are more stable than the ...

Thirring Solitons in the presence of dispersion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The effect of dispersion or diffraction on zero-velocity solitons is studied for the generalized massive Thirring model describing a nonlinear optical fiber with grating or parallel-coupled planar waveguides with misaligned axes.

Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Absorption Properties and Carrier Dynamics of Violet Phosphorene by Oxidation for Ultrafast Photonic Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of oxidation treatment on the nonlinear optical absorption properties and carrier dynamics of two‐dimensional violet phosphorene (VP), elucidating the underlying physical mechanisms. Furthermore, ultrashort laser pulses are achieved utilizing the enhanced saturation absorption and shortened carrier relaxation ...

Feshbach Resonance Management of Bose-Einstein Condensates in Optical Lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We analyze gap solitons in trapped Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in optical lattice potentials under Feshbach resonance management. Starting with an averaged Gross-Pitaevsky (GP) equation with a periodic potential, we employ an envelope wave ...

Octave‐Spanning, Deterministic Single Soliton Generation in 4H‐Silicon Carbide‐On‐Insulator Microring Resonators

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The miniaturization of metrology and precision spectroscopy systems requires robust, turn‐key microcombs with broad bandwidth, low threshold, and high efficiency. Here, high‐Q, dispersion‐engineered microresonators in a high‐confinement nonlinear SiC platform, combined with waveguide‐enabled thermal management and laser cooling, enable deterministic ...

Formation of Optical Fractals by Chaotic Solitons in Coupled Nonlinear Helmholtz Equations

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In the present research work, we construct and examine the self-similarity of optical solitons by employing the Riccati Modified Extended Simple Equation Method (RMESEM) within the framework of non-integrable Coupled Nonlinear Helmholtz Equations (CNHEs).

Optical Skyrmions with Tunable or Reconfigurable Topology Using Spin‐Decoupled Metaoptics

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The work introduces advanced optical elements capable of generating and dynamically reconfiguring complex light patterns known as optical skyrmions. By precisely shaping light polarization at the nanoscale, a single engineered metasurface can generate and manipulate robust and tunable polarization textures in an efficient and scalable way.

Quiescent Solitons in Magneto-Optic Waveguides with Nonlinear Chromatic Dispersion and Kudryashov’s Form of Self-Phase Modulation Having Generalized Temporal Evolution

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
The article discusses how Kudryashov's proposed self-phase modulation scheme and nonlinear chromatic dispersion cause the evolution of quiescent optical solitons in magneto-optic waveguides.
