In previous experiments the change in transmissivity of a CdS crystal under excitation with 20 ns pulses of moderate intensity was investigated. The wavelength emitted by the exciting lasers corresponded to photon energies just below the band gap. The crystal was kept at about 2K. A switching of the crystal into a state of high transmissivity was found.
