Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

Uncovering the Origin of Efficiency Roll‐Off in TADF OLEDs
OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials often suffer from a severe drop in efficiency at high brightness levels. This work presents a technique to uncover the source of this efficiency drop, and quantifies the exciton‐exciton and exciton‐polaron annihilation processes responsible for efficiency losses in our TADF OLEDs ...

Electrochromic polymer stability under overpotential is improved by inserting an ultrathin, transparent n‐doped poly(benzodifurandione) interlayer between indium tin oxide and a poly(3,4‐propylenedioxythiophene)‐based electrochromic polymer. The interlayer supports rapid switching at operating bias, then becomes resistive near +0.8 V to suppress excess

Optical Packet Switching and Optical Burst Switching
2020Optical transmission has long been the established choice for nonwireless data transmission spanning distances longer than a few tens of meters, due to its high bandwidth and electromagnetic noise immunity. Most current high-bandwidth networks are essentially a group of fiber-optic links connected by nodes whose function is to forward incoming data to ...

Optical Hybrid Switching – Combined Optical Burst Switching and Optical Circuit Switching
2004In this paper, we propose a new optical hybrid switching technique which combined Optical Burst Switching (OBS) and Optical Circuit Switching (OCS) using flow classification. In particular, this switching technique classifies incoming IP traffic flows into short-lived and long-lived flows for Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning according to traffic ...

Compact optical crossbar switch
Applied Optics, 1997A novel compact holographic crossbar architecture based on planar optics is presented. It consists of a pair of identical planar holographic elements, a two-dimensional array (N x N) transmission mask, a one-dimensional array (N) of input light sources, and a one-dimensional array (N) of detectors.

Optical Buffering and Switching for Optical Packet Switching
2006 International Conference on Photonics in Switching, 2006We describe the design and initial results of an all-optical buffered 40 Gb/s packet switch. Dynamic packet forwarding is illustrated and specific attention is directed to buffering. We assess the challenges in meeting the requirements for optical buffering devices. Slow light and delay line buffering approaches are described and several recent results

Micromotor grating optical switch
Optics Letters, 1995We describe polysilicon micromotors with diffraction gratings fabricated on the polished surface of the polysilicon rotor for optical switching applications. The motors have rotor diameters of 0.5–2 mm with grating elements having periods of 1.80 and 3.86 μm. These microswitches have rise times of 300 μs and settling times of 500 μs when driven by a 65-

Optical Switching in Chiropticenes
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2003Abstract: Chiropticenes™ are a novel class of predesigned chiral molecular switches that are triggered and controlled by a combination of both light and electric field. Chiropticenes contain an optically active (chiral) center and, as a consequence, provide two accessible equal energy bistable states resembling the molecular elements of binary logic ...
