Comparing Optical Packet Switching And Optical Burst Switching

open access: yesDaffodil International University Journal of Science and Technology, 1970
The switching is an important part of the telecommunication networks over the years for transferring and handling voice and data through the traditional switching nodes existing in the telecommunication networks. Various developments were seen in the recent years which resulted in increasing data transfer capabilities of the transmission networks all ...

Two-photon absorption in microcavities for optical autocorrelation and sampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We have designed novel semiconductor microcavity structures for the enhancement of the two-photon absorption (TPA) photocurrent. We report a TPA autocorrelation technique for short optical pulses that uses the microcavity structure instead of a second ...

Chirality in Nonlinear Optics and Optical Switching [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1993
Chirality in molecular opto-electronics is limited sofar to the use of optically active liquid crystals and a number of optical phenomena are related to the helical macroscopic structure obtained by using one enantiomer, only. In this paper, the use of chirality in nonlinear optics and optical switching is demonstrated.

Ultracompact and low-power optical switch based on silicon photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Switching light is one of the most fundamental functions of an optical circuit. As such, optical switches are a major research topic in photonics, and many types of switches have been realized.

Optical burst switching with large switching overhead [PDF]

open access: yes2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
The optical burst switching (OBS) schemes to date assume that the switching overhead at intermediate nodes is either negligible or can be considered as part of the processing delay of the control packet. In this paper, we will show that the switching overhead can have a significant impact on the performance of OBS.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Harmonic oscillations and their switching in elliptical optical waveguide arrays

open access: yes, 2011
We have studied harmonic oscillations in an elliptical optical waveguide array in which the coupling between neighboring waveguides is varied in accord with a Kac matrix so that the propagation constant eigenvalues can take equally spaced values.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

An ultra fast optical header replacement technology and its application for broadband optical packet switch. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
An optical header replacement technology based on Self Electro-optic Effect Devices (SEEDs) is presented. By using the measurement result of a 75 μm long SEED device, we simulate an 8 Gbps throughput is achievable.

Directional optical switching and transistor functionality using optical parametric oscillation in a spinor polariton fluid

open access: yes, 2017
Over the past decade, spontaneously emerging patterns in the density of polaritons in semiconductor microcavities were found to be a promising candidate for all-optical switching.
