Demonstration of wavelength packet switched radio-over-fiber system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The authors present a novel concept of employing optical wavelength packet switching in radio-over-fiber access networks. In such a system, the tunable laser (TL) would be employed as a transmitter in the central station. The optical carrier generated by

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Ultrafast all-optical wavelength conversion in silicon-insulator waveguides by means of cross phase modulation using 300 femtosecond pulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we report the ultrafast all-optical wavelength conversion in Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) waveguides. We used a pump-probe setup with 300 femtosecond pulses to demonstrate large temporal phase-shifts, caused by the Kerr effect and free ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Investigation of the Thermal Sensitive Spectral Response of Chalcogenide Fiber Bragg Grating

open access: yesCommunications, 2013
This contribution presents numerical studies of the nonlinear fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The proposed model corresponds well to chalcogenide FBG as a considerable tool for optical switching. The spectral response of this device is discussed theoretically.

Olink Proteomics Analysis Reveals Heterogeneous Responses to FcRn Blockade in Anti‐AChR Antibody‐Positive Myasthenia Gravis: FGF‐19 as a Novel Biomarker

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to systematically observe the clinical manifestations, immune cell subsets, and dynamic changes in serological indicators in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) before and after efgartigimod (EFG) treatment. Methods We analyzed the baseline data, laboratory parameters, and lymphocyte subset proportions in MG ...

Analytical Modeling of Switching Fabrics of Elastic Optical Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This article proposes an analytical method for determining the traffic characteristics of multi-service switching networks in elastic optical networks. The method takes into consideration the limitations of W-S-W (wavelength-space-wavelength) switching ...

Fast polarization insensitive optical shutters using dual frequency liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Most of the existing displays and optical shutters based on liquid crystals work in combination with linear polarizers. This implies that often more than half of the light is lost due to optical loss in the polarizers and/or the fact that the incoming ...

Dynamic bandwidth allocation with optimal wavelength switching in TWDM-PONs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Time and wavelength division multiplexed passive optical networks (TWDM-PONs) have been widely considered as one of the next evolutionary steps of optical access networks.

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.
