Confinement Effects on the Crystalline Features of Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Typical device architectures in polymer-based optoelectronic devices, such as field effect transistors organic light emitting diodes and photovoltaic cells include sub-100 nm semiconducting polymer thin-film active layers, whose microstructure is likely ...

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Reconfigurable Electro-optic Logic Circuits Using Microring Resonator-Based Optical Switch Array

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
In this paper, we propose a reconfigurable electro-optic logic circuit, which can perform any combinatorial logic operations using a microring resonator (MRR)-based optical switching array.

Fast polarization insensitive optical shutters using dual frequency liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Most of the existing displays and optical shutters based on liquid crystals work in combination with linear polarizers. This implies that often more than half of the light is lost due to optical loss in the polarizers and/or the fact that the incoming ...

Light-activated resistance switching in SiOx RRAM devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We report a study of light-activated resistance switching in silicon oxide (SiOx) resistive random access memory (RRAM) devices. Our devices had an indium tin oxide/SiOx/p-Si Metal/Oxide/ Semiconductor structure, with resistance switching taking place ...

Fractional Skyrmion Tubes in Chiral‐Interfaced 3D Magnetic Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In chiral 3D helical magnetic nanowires, the coupling between the geometric and magnetic chirality provides a way to create topological spin states like vortex tubes. Here, it is demonstrated how the breaking of this coupling in interfaced 3D nanowires of opposite chirality leads to even more complex topological spin states, such as fractional ...

2D Multifunctional Spin‐Orbit Coupled Dirac Nodal Line Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A total of 473 nonmagnetic and antiferromagnetic 2D spin‐orbit coupled Dirac nodal line materials are screened, spanning 5 layer groups and 12 magnetic space groups. Furthermore, it integrates their topological properties with electride, multiferroic, and magnetic characteristics, revealing unique systems with expanded functionalities and promising ...

Improved ionic solid/viologen hybrid electrochromic device using pre‐bleached Prussian‐blue electrode

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2021
The authors demonstrate how a simple step of loading an electrochromically active Prussian blue (PB; an ionic solid) electrode with Li+ ions can help in achieving a more efficient viologen based solid state hybrid electrochromic device.

Micropatterned Biphasic Printed Electrodes for High‐Fidelity on‐Skin Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micropatterned biphasic printed electrodes achieve unprecedented skin conformity and low impedance by combining liquid‐metal droplets with microstructured 3D lattices. This scalable approach enables high‐fidelity detection of ECG, EMG, and EEG signals, including alpha rhythms from the forehead, with long‐term comfort and stability.

Simulation and Demonstration of Directed XOR/XNOR Logic Gates Using Two Cascaded Microring Resonators

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We propose and demonstrate a directed optical logic circuit that can perform the XOR and XNOR logic operations consisting of two cascaded microring resonators, i.e., an upper waveguide and an under waveguide.
