Optical similaritons in nonlinear waveguides
Optics Letters, 2007We discover analytically an extensive family of optical similaritons, propagating inside graded-index nonlinear waveguide amplifiers. We show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between these novel similaritons and standard solitons of the homogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation.

Optical strip waveguide: an analysis
Applied Optics, 1979An analysis of the strip waveguide is presented with special emphasis on reflection and transmission of a wave obliquely incident on the side of a strip. Mode conversion and the contribution of radiation modes are taken into account in the formulation.

Waveguide dispersion in anisotropic optical waveguides
Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1987The method of shift formulas is employed to obtain approximate analytic expressions which can be used to calculate?with sufficient accuracy for practical applications?the waveguide and polarization dispersion of the dominant orthogonally polarized modes in anisotropic optical fiber waveguides.

Bragg electrostriction in optical waveguides
Applied Optics, 1977A reverse process of acoustooptic diffraction in thin films is studied. The high optical field concentration in thin films is utilized by mixing two optical guided modes electrostrictively to generate an acoustic surface wave. A theoretical analysis analogous to acoustooptic diffraction is presented by taking the power balance approach.

Optically pumped waveguide lasers
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1976The optically pumped waveguide gas lasers in the submillimeter and millimeter wave regions are simple, compact, rugged, efficient, practical, coherent sources. A number of new laser lines have been observed in these lasers. General considerations are given on the attenuation constants of waveguides and the rate equation models. Characteristics of these
