In this paper, coherent optical wireless (COWs) technology is proposed for indoor high data rate communication applications. We discuss several design issues and the architecture of the optical wireless coherent transceiver. We also present an initial system demonstrator along with some initial performance results.

Optical Wireless Communication
Proceedings of the 24th Annual International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking, 2018Data is the new currency impacting everybody's lives. As the modern world receives & sends millions of Terabytes of data every day, the present-day wireless data communication technologies comprising of Wi-Fi & 4G-LTE is on the verge of becoming partially inept for information exchange as they suffer from spectrum congestion in both controlled and ...

Reconfigurable optical wireless
1999 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings. LEOS'99. 12th Annual Meeting. IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 1999 Annual Meeting (Cat. No.99CH37009), 2003We propose a natural step in freespace optical communications that is wireless. Namely, we propose the use of inertialess optical scanners as the agile free space light routing method within a multi-user free-space optical wireless network to realize all-optical advanced wireless networking. For instance, optical intersatellite links can use the highly

IEE Colloquium on Optical Free Space Communication Links, 1996
In this paper we discuss the design of an optical telepoint receiver. The level of receiver performance required when optical baseband video signals are recovered is discussed and a suitable receiver topology is presented. Theoretical and measured results are presented. Also the degrading effect of background light has been demonstrated.

Hybrid Optical Wireless Networks
International Conference on Networking, International Conference on Systems and International Conference on Mobile Communications and Learning Technologies (ICNICONSMCL'06), 2006This paper describes a dynamic reconfiguration algorithm for a hybrid fiber wireless network, which takes advantage of dynamic reconfiguration in WDM based optical networks to provide bandwidth on the fly. The WDM technique for optical networks allows network operators to extend the existing capacity of passive optical networks manifolds.

Free space optical wireless network
2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011This talk explore an over the air optical wireless network and to create a network architecture for reliable high data rate free space optical networks that can interoperate with traditional wired and fiber networks. These networks will have significant impact for applications between ships, airborne vehicles, satellites and land-based cloud computing ...

Indoor optical wireless communications
IEE Colloquium Optical Wireless Communications, 1999There has been a growing interest in optical wireless communications for indoor and outdoor applications. The high cost of reconfiguring and maintaining wired networks makes wireless an economical and flexible alternative to wired systems. Lately, two major transmission technologies have been used to achieve indoor wireless communication: RF and ...
