Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

New limit on Lorentz and CPT-violating neutron spin interactions
We performed a search for neutron spin coupling to a Lorentz and CPT-violating background field using a magnetometer with overlapping ensembles of K and $^3$He atoms.

Design and performance of an absolute 3He/Cs magnetometer [PDF]
We report on the design and performance of a highly sensitive combined ³He/Cs magnetometer for the absolute measurement of magnetic fields. The magnetometer relies on the magnetometric detection of the free spin precession of nuclear spin polarized ³He ...

Abstract High‐frequency oscillations (HFOs) were discovered more than 20 years ago, and since then they have been studied intensively in the context of epilepsy. HFOs encompass a broad spectrum of oscillations, typically ranging from 80 Hz to several kHz, that include both normal and pathological oscillations, documented in people with epilepsy and ...

Detection of a single cobalt microparticle with a microfabricated atomic magnetometer
We present magnetic detection of a single, 2 {\mu}m diameter cobalt microparticle using an atomic magnetometer based on a microfabricated vapor cell. These results represent an improvement by a factor of 105 in terms of the detected magnetic moment over ...

A multi‐material and dual‐stimulus coupled actuation micro‐gear (MDCAMG) is developed via femtosecond‐laser 3D printing combined with magnetic nanoparticle absorption, enabling integrated environmental sensing and remote actuation at the microscale. The device incorporates a pH‐responsive hydrogel matrix for autonomous swelling/shrinking and a magnetic

Magnetic field imaging with microfabricated optically-pumped magnetometers
A multichannel imaging system is presented, consisting of 25 microfabricated optically-pumped magnetometers. The sensor probes have a footprint of less than 1 cm2 and a sensitive volume of 1.5 mm × 1.5 mm × 1.5 mm and connect to a control unit through optical fibers of length 5 m.

Precision magnetic field modelling and control for wearable magnetoencephalography
Optically-pumped magnetometers (OPMs) are highly sensitive, compact magnetic field sensors, which offer a viable alternative to cryogenic sensors (superconducting quantum interference devices – SQUIDs) for magnetoencephalography (MEG).
