Optically stimulated luminescence of persistent luminescence materials

Abstract For around ten years, intense attention has been devoted to materials which exhibit strong persistent luminescence. The Eu 2+ doped SrAl 2 O 4 is probably the best one. Co-doping with other trivalent rare earth ions, especially with Dy 3+ , enhances the persistent luminescence.

Abstract Optically stimulated luminescence from MgS:Eu,Sm phosphors is characterised. First analysis shows that this method has some interesting features for dosimetry measurments: high sensitivity, non heating and fast reading time can be retained. Optically and thermally stimulated luminescence characteristics of MgO:Tb3+

In this paper main optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics are presented of a newly synthesised material MgO doped with terbium (Tb) developed at the Institute of Nuclear Science, Vinca. A thermally stimulated emission spectrum showed the characteristic lines of Tb3+ in a wide range of wavelengths.

Radiation Dosimetry by Optically-stimulated Luminescence of BeO

Abstract A radiation dosimeter utilizing the optically-stimulated luminescence of BeO permits repeated readings on a single sample. The response as a function of exposure is supralinear and saturates at 3 × 105 R. The lower useable limit is determined by an inherent background signal. The lower limit for BeO powder is 1 R and for BeO disks is 10 R.
