Optically stimulated luminescence dating of sediments
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating methodology was applied on the coarse grain fraction (100÷500 μm thick) of quartz crystals (green light stimulated luminescence, GLSL) and feldspar crystals (infrared stimulated luminescence, IRSL) taken from sections at different depths of cores bored in various coastal lagoons (Longarini, Cuba, Bruno) in

The effect of weathering on optically stimulated luminescence dating
Quaternary Geochronology, 2007Abstract Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating was applied to quartz samples recovered from the gravel sediments of deformed marine terrace at the Suryum site, southeastern Korea, but has yielded stratigraphically inconsistent ages. Micromorphological, chemical, and mineralogical analyses of the gravels indicate the possible influence of ...

Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating and the Peopling of the Americas
PaleoAmerica, 2016The measurement of time is a critical parameter in archaeology and particularly in evaluating the timing of the peopling of the Americas.

Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating of Sediments over the Past 200,000 Years
Optical dating of sediment using optically stimulated luminescence has become important for studying Earth surface processes, and this technique continues to develop rapidly.

Thermoluminescence and optically stimulated luminescence dating of Spanish dunes
Quaternary Science Reviews, 1994Abstract The second largest expanse of sand dunes and sand sheets in inland Spain is found between the valleys of the Rio Jucar and the Rio Guadiana, to the south of Madrid. The dunes in the Guadiana valley on the San Juan alluvial plain are composed of sands or silty clays.

Optically stimulated luminescence dating of Roman mortars in Braga (Portugal)
2013Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating of ancient mortars from a Roman monument of Braga (NW Portugal) is proposed in this work, using the single aliquot regenerative dose (SAR) protocol to estimate the equivalent dose on quartz grains of the mortar aggregate.

Developments in Optically Stimulated Luminescence Techniques for Dating and Retrospective Dosimetry
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1999Optically stimulated luminescence signals from natural quartz and feldspar are now used routinely in dating geological and archaeological materials. More recently they have also been employed in accident dosimetry, i.e. the retrospective assessment of doses received as a result of a nuclear accident.

Optically stimulated luminescence dating of fluvial deposits: a review
Boreas, 2002Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating allows age determination of sediments deposited during the last glacial‐interglacial cycle. This relatively new technique therefore enables chronological frameworks to be established for fluvial deposits that often cannot be dated by other means.

Optically stimulated luminescence dating of pottery from Turkey.
Talanta, 2012In this study, the potential of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating for archaeological potteries was investigated. Firstly, recently purchased OSL and alpha counter systems were calibrated. Then, archaeological sherds taken from Datça-Burgaz (Muğla, Turkey) archaeological site of archaic and classical period (700-400 BC) were dated.

Optically stimulated luminescence dating at Rose Cottage Cave
2008Six optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dates are compared with stratigraphically associated 14C dates from Rose Cottage Cave. The OSL dates overlap the accepted 14C chronology except for one sample that overestimates the expected age by approximately 30%.
