Optimal bandwidth selection for MLS surfaces
2008 IEEE International Conference on Shape Modeling and Applications, 2008We address the problem of bandwidth selection in MLS surfaces. While the problem has received relatively little attention in the literature, we show that appropriate selection plays a critical role in the quality of reconstructed surfaces. We formulate the MLS polynomial fitting step as a kernel regression problem for both noiseless and noisy data ...

Cost of Bandwidth-Optimized Sparse Mesh Layouts
2015The requirements of interconnection networks for shared memory chip multiprocessors CMP differ from those used in traditional application-specific networks on chip NOC. This is because modern CMP cores tend to inject memory references to the network frequently upi¾?to once per clock cycle and the latency of references should be as low as possible.

Bandwidth-rate-distortion optimized motion estimation
2009 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2009Motion estimation process is the most computational and memory intensive component in video encoders. However, traditional motion estimation algorithms focus on rate and distortion performance and do not take memory bandwidth into consideration. As a result, its performance will be degraded under bandwidth constraint environment.

Optimizing TLS for Low Bandwidth Environments
2015This paper explores alternatives to minimize the overhead of Transport Layer Security (TLS) towards making it usable in bandwidth-constrained environments. Several areas are identified where overhead can be reduced while remaining fully compatible with standard Transport Layer Security.

Bandwidth Optimization in Broadband Networks
2002In this chapter, firstly, the QoS in the entire network is analytically determined; and secondly, a heuristics based bandwidth optimization procedure is outlined. Given a set of SD (Source-Destination) pairs, and a list of routes for each of the SD pairs, the procedure develops a channel allocation plan that optimizes QoS and revenue.

Bandwidth Optimization for Satellite Digital Broadcasting
31st AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference, 2013The 2-generation satellite digital video broadcasting (DVB-S2) system is at present under review with the aim of improving its spectral efficiency. In this paper, we have addressed the problem to optimize the user bandwidth taking into account a realistic satellite broadcasting channel.

Memory bandwidth optimization through stream descriptors
ACM SIGARCH Computer Architecture News, 2005The memory subsystem for computer vision and image processing applications must sustain high memory bandwidth to keep processors busy. This paper advocates the use of stream descriptors, a mechanism that allows programmers to indicate data movement explicitly.

Bandwidth, Vertex Separators, and Eigenvalue Optimization
2013A fundamental problem in numerical linear algebra consists in rearranging the rows and columns of a matrix in such a way that either the nonzero entries appear within a band of small width along the main diagonal, or such that the matrix has some block structure which is joined by only a few rows and columns. Such problems can be approached using graph

Gain-bandwidth optimization of PID controllers
Proceedings of the 2002 American Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.CH37301), 2002Many methods exist for the design of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers. This paper describes a constrained optimization aimed at reducing the excess gain-bandwidth of an initial controller thereby improving its performance. Further reduction in the gain-bandwidth is possible even when the bandwidth is explicitly considered in the ...
