Bandwidth optimization in SLA negotiation process

open access: yesJoint IST Workshop on Mobile Future, 2006 and the Symposium on Trends in Communications. SympoTIC '06., 2006
In this paper we propose an efficient resource management technique for MPLS-based DiffServ networks. The service provider (SP) can predict sufficient link bandwidth resources for traffic caused by contracting of SLAs (Service Level Agreement). It could be an important part of admission control in the SLA negotiation process (SLA-creation).

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...

When Poor Exciton Dissociation Limits Photocurrents in Organic Solar Cells: Why Low Offset Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Blends Can't Be Efficient

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

Study on the Automatic Selection of Sensitive Hyperspectral Bands for Rice Nitrogen Retrieval Based on a Maximum Inscribed Rectangle

open access: yesAgronomy
Most existing studies on the optimal bandwidth selection for plant nitrogen are based on the sensitive band center, and determine the optimal bands by manually adjusting the bandwidth, step by step.

Optimality in Decentralized Optimization under Bandwidth Constraints

open access: yesCoRR
We consider a realistic decentralized setup with bandwidth-constrained communication and derive optimal time complexities for non-convex stochastic parallel and asynchronous optimization (up to logarithmic factors). We develop the corresponding methods, Grace SGD and Leon SGD, for both homogeneous and heterogeneous settings.
