Optimization in Control Theory

2013
This chapter introduces how a control design problem can be formulated as an optimization problem. To this end, the standard control problem as well as the notion of stabilizing controllers are first briefly reviewed. After that, some closed-loop system performance measures are presented, they are indeed unavoidable to evaluate the quality of a given ...

Optimal Control Theory

2015
Exploration of the optimal control theoretic approach has been investigated. Here, our main aim is to minimize the cost as well as minimize the infected \(\mathrm{{CD4}}^{+}\)T cells and maximize the uninfected \(\mathrm{{CD4}}^{+}\)T cells. Moreover, optimal control strategy helps for successful immune reconstitution that can be achieved with increase

On classical envelopes in optimal control theory

49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010
The method of characteristics is utilized to investigate the value function of an optimal control problem with a smooth control near singularities of the corresponding flow of extremals. A direct generalization of the classical concept of envelopes from the calculus of variations to the optimal control problem is formulated. As a simple illustration it

The Optimal Control Theory

2015
The optimal control theory is the theoretical basis for the generation of control algorithms to reach and maintain the desired orbital and attitude reference trajectory . These algorithms need to have as input a partial or total information regarding the state of the system. In this chapter we will review the classic optimal control theory derived from

An Extension of an Optimal Control Sufficiency Theory

SIAM Journal on Control, 1974
An extension is given for a general sufficiency theory in time-optimal control which was developed by L. C. Young. The extension enables sufficient conditions to be applied to a wider class of trajectories than in the original theory, including a class of trajectories with initial Lagrange multiplier unity.
