Optimal Polynomial Filters

Journal of Graphics Tools, 2005
In this paper, we present a family of circular or square optimal polynomial filters for prefiltering two-dimensional polygons and images.

Color filters: When “optimal” is not optimal

2016 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2016
It is well known that many more than three or four spectral measurements are required for accurate measurement of color. Previous work has shown seven to ten measurements can yield accurate results on average, but with significant numbers of errors above the threshold of obvious visual detection. Furthermore, the filters used for these measurements are

Optimal Ladder Filters

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2009
Optimizing the dynamic range of active filters through filter network optimization can lead to significant savings in chip area and power consumption. By restricting the filters to be ladder filters, it is possible to limit the complexity of the optimized networks.

Optimal filtering of nerve singnals

Biological Cybernetics, 1977
Recording from multiple electrodes at different sites along a peripheral nerve permits the application of powerful filtering methods to extract the activity of populations of fibres within the nerve which differ in temporal or spectral characteristics.

On Optimal Signal–Filter Pairs

Problems of Information Transmission, 2003
In the frame of the general theory of signals, defined on \(\{0,N- 1\}\), as it was developed by Trakhman, one consider the complex-valued, \(N\)-periodic function space function which is denoted by \(\mathbb{C}_N\) and whose elements are called signals.

Optimal Filter Networks

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2008
Filters with optimal dynamic range may be generated through state transformation. Examples show that this optimization leads to a chip-area and power-consumption reduction up to 50%. The method is flexible enough to apply to any filter transfer function and any method to determine the dynamic range.

Asymptotically Optimal Filters

The 31st ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures, 2019
A filter, such as a Bloom filter, maintains a compact, probabilistic representation of a set S of elements from a universe U. The challenge is to design a filter that uses optimal space and requires a constant number of memory accesses per query while supporting both insertions and deletions.

Morphological filters for global optimization

2020 5th International Conference on Logistics Operations Management (GOL), 2020
This paper is devoted to construct an algorithm based on morphological filters, for global optimization of functions in big dimensions. A panel of various benchmark problems with different properties were used to assess the performance of the proposed Optimization morphological filters (OMF) algorithm.
