Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Hybrid Optimization-Based Sequential Placement of DES in Unbalanced Active Distribution Networks Considering Multi-Scenario Operation

open access: yesEnergies
The increasing penetration of distributed generation (DG) brings about great economic and environmental benefits, while also negatively affecting the operation of distribution networks due to its high intermittency.

Component placement optimization in the brain [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 1994
This computational neuroanatomy study evaluates how well some formalisms derived from combinatorial network optimization theory fit as models for brain structure. At multiple hierarchical levels--brain, ganglion, individual cell--physical placement of neural components appears consistent with a single, simple goal: minimize cost of connections among ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Optimal Placement of a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) in Distribution Systems Using Exhaustive Search to Improve Voltage Profiles and Harmonic Distortion

open access: yesEnergies
This paper presents an exhaustive search approach to determine the optimal placement of a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) in a distribution system that integrates a distributed generation (DG) unit based on photovoltaic (PV) panels.

A Multi-objective PMU Placement Method Considering Observability and Measurement Redundancy using ABC Algorithm

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2014
This paper presents a Multi- objective Optimal Placement of Phasor Measurement Units (MOPP) method in large electric transmission systems. It is proposed for minimizing the number of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) for complete system observability and

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Reliability impact for optimal placement of power factor correction capacitors considering transient switching events

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The power factor can be enhanced in many ways, one of which is a capacitor installation to correct the power factor at a particular location. While power factor correction capacitors are commonly used in power systems to generate Mvar at the bus, this ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
