The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Using the Rooted Tree to Find the Optimal Solution for the Transportation Problems

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference on Applied Innovations in IT
Considering economic aspects of the transportation problem and the fact that it is a particular instance of linear programming problems that rely on figuring out the best way to distribute goods from supply centers to customers in a shorter amount of ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Optimal parallel solution of sparse triangular systems [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for the parallel solution of triangular sets of equations is described that is appropriate when there are many right-handed sides. By preprocessing, the method can reduce the number of parallel steps required to solve Lx = b compared to parallel

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Optimal control problem for a sixth-order Cahn-Hilliard equation with nonlinear diffusion

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this article, we study the initial-boundary-value problem for a sixth-order Cahn-Hilliard type equation $$displaylines{ u_t=D^2mu, cr mu=gamma D^4u-a(u)D^2u-frac{a'(u)}2|D u|^2+f(u)+ku_t, }$$ which describes the separation properties of oil ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Two Efficient Algorithms for Weighted P-Median Problem

open access: yesCommunications, 2015
We propose a genetic algorithm for a weighted p-median problem. It is a facility location problem. The algorithm generates a good solution quickly. Computational tests were realized on five different tasks from 21 vertices to 100 vertices and from p ...

Solution Repair/Recovery in Uncertain Optimization Environment

open access: yes, 2014
Operation management problems (such as Production Planning and Scheduling) are represented and formulated as optimization models. The resolution of such optimization models leads to solutions which have to be operated in an organization.
