Evolution Strategy Optimization for Selective Pulses in NMR
Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 1998We present a first set of improved selective pulses, obtained with a numerical technique similar to the one proposed by Geen and Freeman. The novelty is essentially a robust and efficient "evolution strategy" which consistently leads, in a matter of minutes, to "solutions" better than those published so far.

Selection of Appropriate Portfolio Optimization Strategy
Theoretical and Applied Computational Intelligence, 2023Portfolio optimization is a critical task in financial management, aiming to maximize expected returns while minimizing risk. This study compares the performance of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Dynamic Programming (DP), and Differential Evolutionary Algorithm (DEA) in optimizing portfolios in the NIFTY 50 market.

Selection Strategies of Evolutionary Algorithms in Multiobjective Optimization
2009 Fifth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2009The study on selection strategies of evolutionary algorithms in multiobjective optimization (MOEAs) is scarce. This paper mostly researches on various selection strategies of MOEAs. Firstly, the paper discusses how to construct an appropriate fitness function in multiobjective optimization problem, then, selection strategies are classified as six ...

A novel selection evolutionary strategy for constrained optimization
Information Sciences, 2013The existence of infeasible solutions makes it very difficult to handle constrained optimization problems (COPs) in a way that ensures efficient, optimal and constraint-satisfying convergence. Although further optimization from feasible solutions will typically lead in a direction that generates further feasible solutions, certain infeasible solutions ...

A Comparison of Operator Selection Strategies in Evolutionary Optimization
2006 IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse & Integration, 2006Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) are an effective paradigm for solving many types of optimization problems. They are flexible and can be adapted to new problem classes with little effort. EAs apply operators on the elements of a population. When multiple operators are involved, their distribution is based on fixed probabilities.

The selection of the optimal therapeutic strategy for petroclival meningiomas
Surgical Neurology, 2006Broad experience with the management of petroclival meningiomas was analyzed to optimize therapeutic strategy. The records of 75 patients with petroclival meningioma were reviewed. The population was divided into a microsurgery group (n = 49), a radiosurgery group (n = 12), a radiation therapy group (n = 5), and an observation group (n = 9) according to

Optimization Strategies in Adaptive Control: A Selective Survey
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1975A great number of techniques have been applied to the general problem of adaptive control. What began as a study of engineering adaptive control problems involving dynamics, system and measurement noise, monitoring, transduction, and on-line instrumentation seems to have moved towards learning theory and methodology research that uses a refined plant ...

Bacterial Foraging Optimization with Leader Selection Strategy for Bi-objective Optimization
2021Multi-objective problem (MOP) has long been a challenging issue. Many novel Swarm Intelligence (SI) method like Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO) has been extended to tackle MOPs recent years. To further improve the efficiency of BFO in multi-objective optimization, this paper proposes a novel BFO for Bi-objective optimization (abbreviated as BIBFO)

Optimal shot selection strategies for the NBA
Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports, 2019Abstract In this paper we conduct an equilibrium analysis of the 2015–2016 NBA record breaking season culminating in the dramatic final series upset produced by the Cleveland Cavaliers (CLE) over the Golden State Warriors (GSW). A Stackelberg equilibrium (Conitzer and Sandholm 2006) is constructed for each pair of NBA teams, as a pair of

On optimal and suboptimal actuator selection strategies
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1976This short paper studies a particular class of optimization problems dealing with the selection, at each instant of time, of one out of many actuators in order to obtain a determined result. A cost is associated with each actuator. The cost function is the integral of a weighted combination of the achieved accuracy on the state of the system and the ...
