System optimization

Proceedings of the 1965 20th national conference on -, 1965
THE PURPOSE of this paper is to demonstrate why a mass memory subsystem for multi-program operation requires simultaneity in both command and data transfer channels. A hypothetical computer system is discussed which will illustrate the points presented here and in a MAC project1.

Interactive Optimization System

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1979
Summary An interactive optimization system is described which was developed for solving unconstrained minimization, nonlinear programming problems and optimal control problems. The system library of algorithms contains both novel and currently available methods.

Truck suspension systems optimization

Journal of Terramechanics, 1971
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes a test program and computer simulation aimed at optimizing the riding qualities of a Military tractor semitrailer combination, the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET). Instrumented testing at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Proving Ground was conducted with a variety of suspension configurations. The test

Optimization of Maintained Systems

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1980
This paper formulates the problem of optimization of maintained systems with constraints on both availability and mean cycle-time. The objective function is the sum of recurring and non-recurring costs. An example is solved using Fletcher's ideal-penalty-function algorithm which is also briefly described.
