Fine properties of monotone maps arising in optimal transport for non-quadratic costs
The cost functions considered are c(x,y)=h(x−y)c\left(x,y)=h\left(x-y), where h∈C2(Rn)h\in {C}^{2}\left({{\mathbb{R}}}^{n}) is homogeneous of degree p≥2p\ge 2 with a positive definite Hessian in the unit sphere.

Improved differential evolution algorithm for solving open-pit mine transportation problem
Aiming at open-pit mine transportation problem, a mathematical model of the open-pit mine transportation problem was established which took production and transportation capacity of open-pit mine as constraint conditions and the minimum transportation ...

Decorrelation using optimal transport
AbstractBeing able to decorrelate a feature space from protected attributes is an area of active research and study in ethics, fairness, and also natural sciences. We introduce a novel decorrelation method using Convex Neural Optimal Transport Solvers (Cnots) that is able to decorrelate a continuous feature space against protected attributes with ...

Optimal Transport for Domain Adaptation [PDF]
Domain adaptation from one data space (or domain) to another is one of the most challenging tasks of modern data analytics. If the adaptation is done correctly, models built on a specific data space become more robust when confronted to data depicting the same semantic concepts (the classes), but observed by another observation system with its own ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Unbalanced Multi-marginal Optimal Transport
AbstractEntropy-regularized optimal transport and its multi-marginal generalization have attracted increasing attention in various applications, in particular due to efficient Sinkhorn-like algorithms for computing optimal transport plans. However, it is often desirable that the marginals of the optimal transport plan do not match the given measures ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

An optimal transport approach to estimating causal effects via nonlinear difference-in-differences
We propose a nonlinear difference-in-differences (DiD) method to estimate multivariate counterfactual distributions in classical treatment and control study designs with observational data.
