Optimisation techniques in vaginal cuff brachytherapy

The British Journal of Radiology, 2009
The aim of this study was to explore whether an in-house dosimetry protocol and optimisation method are able to produce a homogeneous dose distribution in the target volume, and how often optimisation is required in vaginal cuff brachytherapy. Treatment planning was carried out for 109 fractions in 33 patients who underwent high dose rate iridium-192 ...

Constraint resolution using optimisation techniques

Computers & Graphics, 2001
Abstract Constraint-based CAD systems are useful for handling design applications in which the precise rules are not known beforehand. The designer can introduce new constraints as these become apparent as the design task proceeds. A variety of ways for resolving constraints currently exist.

Optimising cryosurgery technique.

Australian family physician, 2017
Cryosurgery is an effective, simple and inexpensive treatment used extensively in general practice and dermatology. It is used most commonly for actinic keratoses and warts; however, a large number of benign, premalignant and malignant skin diseases can also be treated. The objective of this article is to help readers improve their cryosurgery technique.

An Optimised Optional Randomised Response Technique

International Statistical Review
SummaryIn this paper, we begin by reviewing the optional randomised response technique estimator (ORRTE) developed by Chaudhuri and Mukerjee for estimating the proportion of a sensitive characteristic in a population. We show that their estimator is unbiased and has smaller variance than the Warner's estimator.

Distributed Task Allocation Optimisation Techniques

International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, 2018
Multi-agent task allocation is a complex problem compounded by various constraints such as deadlines, agent capabilities, and communication delays. In high-stake real-time environments, such as rescue missions, it is difficult to predict in advance what the requirements of the mission will be, and what resources will be available.

Advanced Techniques for Engine Optimisation and Control [PDF]

open access: possible
To improve the engine performance, this dissertation aims at developing a frameworkof engine control and optimisation. The engine control algorithm has to be developedto fully utilise the technical advances in sensors. The engine control technologies onthe market today have been conservatively designed for safety and reliability concerns. This strategy ...

Comparisons of Optimisation Techniques

2002
In this chapter, theoretical studies which variously prove global convergence, or compare rates of convergence, are listed and contrasted for a range of optimisation methods. These results then lead to a consideration of empirical studies, on test functions, combinatorial optimisation problems, and systems models.

Optimisation of network structure using genetic techniques

1990 IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 1990
Arguments contending that it is necessary to use structured neural networks for the solution of certain problem types are presented. Structure is imposed on connectivity, activation functions, and other parameters of the network to simultaneously optimize generalization ability and compactness of the network.

Improving the Efficiency of Plan Optimisation Techniques

2015
My research area is centred on AI planning, with the current work focused on optimising low quality plans generated by existing planners. Since the beginning of my PhD studies, I have concentrated on studying existing plan-optimisation techniques. Efforts have been made to compare, evaluate and test them on several benchmarks domains and planning ...
