Optimization of the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) control quarter car suspension system using genetic algorithm

open access: yesIngeniería e Investigación, 2016
In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) based in an optimization approach is presented in order to search the optimum weighting matrix parameters of a linear quadratic regulator (LQR).

NLP Solutions as Asymptotic Values of ODE Trajectories

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, it is shown that the solutions of general differentiable constrained optimization problems can be viewed as asymptotic solutions to sets of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs).

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Adaptive Rainwater Management on Coral Islands: Multi-Method Integrated Rapid Optimization of Bioretention Systems

open access: yesEnvironmental Chemistry and Safety
Although tropical coral islands receive abundant annual precipitation, the heavy rainfall and the high porosity of coral sand lead to rapid rainwater loss, posing a severe challenge to water use, soil water retention, and plant growth.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Stray Current Sensor Based on an All-Side Cylindrical Spiral Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
In this paper, a stray current sensor based on an all-side cylindrical spiral fiber is proposed. The configuration of stray current sensor is illustrated first. The Jones matrix of sensor head is derived based on the geometric rotation effect. The output

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
