Structural optimization with fuzzy parameters

Computers & Structures, 1990
Abstract In this paper, the process of optimum design of structures is developed in which design parameters with a fuzzy nature are considered. The fuzzy optimum problem is transformed into an ordinary unconstrained optimum problem by expressing the objective function in the form of fuzzy expected cost.

Parameter Optimization in Hierarchical Structures

1999
The genetic-algorithm-based method described in this paper can be used to identify a parameter set whose value defines the gene regulation circuit. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach we choose Drosophila segmentation processes. In the processes, we search the parameter set of diffusion constant and transcription ratio of each gene.

Parameter free structural optimization applied to the shape optimization of smart structures

Finite Elements in Analysis and Design, 2016
This contribution applies structural shape optimization techniques to actuated smart structures. In order to combine these two disciplines, the idea of Optimal Actuation and an enlarged filtering scheme are presented. A parameter free optimization scheme is used, which allows the treatment of different branches of structural optimization using an ...

Joint Structure and Parameter Optimization of Multiobjective Sparse Neural Network

Neural Computation, 2021
This work addresses the problem of network pruning and proposes a novel joint training method based on a multiobjective optimization model. Most of the state-of-the-art pruning methods rely on user experience for selecting the sparsity ratio of the weight matrices or tensors, and thus suffer from severe performance reduction with inappropriate user ...

Study on optimization of structure parameters to the penetrator

2016 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation, 2016
The impact type penetrator is a compact, lightweight and low power consumption device, using internal hammering mechanism to move downward by compaction of lunar soil in space exploration. This paper proposes an optimal design method for the impact type penetrator.

Robustness optimization of structural and controller parameters

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1987
In this paper, several novel ideas in the definition and optimization of robustness for structures and structural controllers are presented. A robustness bound attributable to Patel and Toda is developed using eigenvalue conditioning analysis. Homotopy and sequential linear programming algorithms are used in lieu of conventional nonlinear programming ...

Optimization of actuator placement and structural parameters in smart structures

SPIE Proceedings, 1999
Adaptive structures optimal design problems and solution methods are presented and discussed for the cases of shape control and active damping. A general method to solve simultaneously optimal placement and control problems for active damping applications is outlined.

Optimal adaptive estimation: Structure and parameter adaptation

1970 IEEE Symposium on Adaptive Processes (9th) Decision and Control, 1970
Optimal structure and parameter adaptive estimators have been obtained for continuous as well as discrete data gaussian process models with linear dynamics. Specifically, the essentially nonlinear adaptive estimators are shown to be decomposable (partition theorem) into two parts, a linear non-adaptive part consisting of a bank of Kalman-Bucy filters ...

A nonlinear optimization algorithm for the estimation of structure and motion parameters

Proceedings CVPR '89: IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2003
A nonlinear least-squares optimization technique is proposed which uses the Levenberg-Marquardt method and estimates the motion and structure parameters to a global scale factor by minimizing an objective function. This objective function is the mean-square difference between the measured coordinates of feature points in the image plane and the ...
