Designing manufacturable viscoelastic devices using a topology optimization approach within a truly-mixed fem framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A new approach to topology optimization is presented that is based on the minimization of the input/output transfer function H∞norm. Additionally, by properly selecting input and output vector, the approach is recognized to minimize an entirely new ...

A new computational approach to topology optimization in solid mechanics problems

open access: yes, 2023
This doctoral thesis addresses topology optimization problems at a single scale. Based on this purpose, a new topology optimization approach is developed in order to improve existing and widespread techniques in the research community on the topic. The proposed technique presents several characteristics that overcome some of the well-known difficulties

Self-supporting structure design in additive manufacturing through explicit topology optimization

open access: yes, 2017
One of the challenging issues in additive manufacturing (AM) oriented topology optimization is how to design structures that are self-supportive in a manufacture process without introducing additional supporting materials. In the present contribution, it

Proportional Topology Optimization: A new non-gradient method for solving stress constrained and minimum compliance problems and its implementation in MATLAB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A new topology optimization method called the Proportional Topology Optimization (PTO) is presented. As a non-gradient method, PTO is simple to understand, easy to implement, and is also efficient and accurate at the same time. It is implemented into two

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

A Variational r-Adaption and Shape-Optimization Method for Finite-Deformation Elasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper is concerned with the formulation of a variational r-adaption method for finite-deformation elastostatic problems. The distinguishing characteristic of the method is that the variational principle simultaneously supplies the solution, the ...
