Many languages support behavioral software contracts so that programmers can describe a component's obligations and promises via logical assertions in its interface. The contract system monitors program execution, checks whether the assertions hold, and, if not, blames the guilty component.

Contract Remedies and Options Pricing

This article examines the choice between money damages and specific performance as the remedy for contract breach by drawing on the theory of options valuation. The ability to breach and pay money damages is analogous to granting the breaching party an option to buy back his performance for a strike price equal to the damages award.

Option Contracts in Supply Chains

This paper considers optimal contracts in supply chains that consist of n≥ 2 firms and face a potential investment hold‐up problem. We show that option contracts may solve the incentive problems. First, we provide case‐study evidence for the use of option contracts in the semiconductor industry.
