If a spectrophone containing an infrared active gas is placed near a cold surface and the path between the two is interrupted, the periodic flow of radiation from the spectrophone causes a sound wave to be produced. Experiments were done with a 3.4- × 1.7-cm diam acoustic cell that was fitted with thallium bromoiodide windows.

Blood Optoacoustic Stimulation (BOAS)
Optica Biophotonics Congress 2025Photoacoustic is a precise non-genetic neural stimulation method. To avoid surgery and exogenous implants, we show blood as an effective endogenous absorber for PA stimulation in vivo. This study marks the first PA brain stimulation using endogenous absorbers.

Laser Optoacoustic Microspectroscopy
1986Spectra of microscopic objects play an important role, for instance, in material, science and the technology of optical and electronic devices. Here, OAS complements the potentials of conventional methods of microscopy (optical acoustic, electronic, etc.) and in some cases it enables us to obtain quite new information about the microstructure of ...

Multimodal Optoacoustic Imaging
2018Optical imaging is one of the oldest and most frequently used imaging techniques. Even though the first optical imaging device, the light microscope, has been invented around 1590, the human eye has served the same purpose for centuries before that. With the advent of new technologies, such as efficient electronics, powerful lasers, sensitive detectors,
