High sensitivity fiber optic temperature sensor composed of two parallel FPI and enhanced harmonic Vernier effect

open access: yesScientific Reports
A high-sensitivity fiber optic temperature sensor based on the enhanced harmonic Vernier effect (HVE) is proposed, which consists of two Fabry–Perot interferometers (FPI) that are sensitive to temperature and connected in parallel.

Band Alignment in In‐Oxo Metal Porphyrin SURMOF Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Porphyrin core metalation in indium‑oxo SURMOFs enables systematic tuning of band edge positions without altering the crystal structure. First‑principles calculations reveal type‑I and type‑II heterostructures as well as multi‑junction energy cascades, establishing a modular strategy for exciton funneling and charge separation in optoelectronic ...

Valence-band electronic structure evolution of graphene oxide upon thermal annealing for optoelectronics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report valence-band electronic structure evolution of graphene oxide (GO) upon its thermal reduction. The degree of oxygen functionalization was controlled by annealing temperature, and an electronic structure evolution was monitored using real-time ...

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.
