Optoelectronic metadevices

Science
Metasurfaces have introduced new opportunities in photonic design by offering unprecedented, nanoscale control over optical wavefronts. These artificially structured layers have largely been used to passively manipulate the flow of light by controlling its phase, amplitude, and polarization.

Optoelectronic/VLSI

IEEE Transactions on Advanced Packaging, 1997
A great goal of optics in computing is the eventual failure of electrical interconnects. This leads to two guiding principles for smart pixel technologies, which integrate optoelectronic devices to electronics for optical read-in/out. One, that the electronics be state-of-the-art, or, in other words, not compromised by the integration with ...

Ultrafast optoelectronics

Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1988
Optoelectronic devices and measurement techniques now operate at speeds ranging from picoseconds to hundreds of femtoseconds, have a dynamic range that extends from microvolts to kilovolts, are virtually jitter-free, and can make measurements in a wide variety of circuits, devices, and materials without requiring direct electrical contacts to the ...

Graphene based optoelectronics

2014 The European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2014
Owed to its extraordinary electronic, thermal, and optical properties, as well as its integration possibilities and low cost, graphene has emerged as an attractive material for a myriad of optoelectronic applications. Although just one atom-thick, single-layer graphene is capable of efficiently interacting with optical waves over a wide spectral range ...

Optoelectronic devices in optoelectronic signal processors

Conference Proceedings. LEOS '97. 10th Annual Meeting IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 1997 Annual Meeting, 2002
A neural network is one architecture for an optoelectronic signal processor which operates in a dynamic parallel mode. The basic node is a circuit which has multiple inputs and a single output which is in general fanned out to several next stage inputs. A key feature is that an adjustable synaptic weight is applied to each input.

Optoelectronics and The Internet

2007
The talk introduces the concept of Optoelectronics, the fusion of optics and electronics which is now absolutely vital to modern communications, in particular the Internet. The basic ideas of the scale of information which the modern world needs to transmit, and the speeds at which we must transmit it, are discussed to introduce the requirements of ...
