Optomechanical dark mode

2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2012
Inducing a Quiet Space The interaction between light and matter forms the foundation of many applications in communication and sensing, as well as provides insights into fundamental quantum-level processes. Optical coupling of a mechanical system can be used to study these processes.

Solitons in optomechanical arrays

Optics Letters, 2016
We show that optical solitons can be obtained with a one-dimensional optomechanical array that consists of a chain of periodically spaced identical optomechanical systems. Unlike conventional optical solitons, which originate from nonlinear polarization, the optical soliton here stems from a new mechanism, namely, phonon-photon interaction.

Chiral metasurface optomechanics

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2019
We report on mechanical action on light polarization, and its back-action effect, in a chiral metasurface. Our thin-film nanostructured semiconductor device may prove of relevance for fast polarization state generation and detection.

Superfluid Helium Optomechanics

CLEO: 2014, 2014
By evanescently coupling a helium film to a high-Q optical resonator we make the first observation of superfluid helium Brownian motion. This new system has applications in quantum optomechanics, and in understanding superfluid helium properties.

Quantum Thermometry in Optomechanics

Quantum Information and Measurement (QIM) V: Quantum Technologies, 2019
We describe a method to control the cavity detuning in optomechanics experiments. This helps accurate measurements of the asymmetry in the motional sidebands, that testify the quantum behavior of the oscillator and quantifies its occupation number.

Two dimensional optomechanical crystals for quantum optomechanics

2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017
Cooling of nanomechanical resonators to their motional ground state [1, 2] triggered recent achievements like non-classical mechanical state preparation [3] or coherent optical to microwave photon conversion [4]. Implementations of such system with optomechanical crystal (OMC) resonators use the co-localization of optical and acoustic modes in a ...

Achromatic optomechanical modulator

Applied Optics, 1986
We present details of the construction and performance of an optomechanical amplitude modulator. The heart of the modulator is an oscillating small mirror which makes it a low-power low-voltage device. The modulation frequency is fixed, but, in our model, it can be changed from 10 to 20 kHz by simple adjustments, and the modulator has high transmission.
