Observer agreement in the grading of oral epithelial dysplasia
Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, 2003Abstract Objectives: To determine the extent of observer agreement in diagnosis of oral epithelial dysplasia (OED). Published studies of OED examiner agreement report relatively low agreement levels; however, these studies were limited by the methodologies employed.

Content and distribution of glycogen in oral epithelial dysplasia
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1981Abstract— Forty‐four oral lesions with epithelial dysplasia and 25 other benign and malignant lesionsof the oarl mucosa were examined after ataining with hematoxylin‐eosin and diastase controlled PAS. The intensity of the PAS‐Positivity for glycogen, The grade of dysplasia, the type of keratinization and the degreeof subepithelial inflmmation were ...

Oral epithelial dysplasia in vitamin B12 deficiency
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1989Widespread soreness and focal ulceration of the oral mucosa developed in a woman with vitamin B12 deficiency shortly after hydroxocobalamin therapy had commenced. An oral mucosal biopsy showed disordered epithelial maturation with marked cytologic atypia.

Malignant transformation in a cohort of patients with oral epithelial dysplasia
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2021Oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) is often diagnosed in oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) and carries an increased risk of malignant transformation. Currently, the reported risk of malignant transformation for OED varies. Here we present the risk in a cohort of 150 patients with OED at a specialist centre.

Molecular markers in oral epithelial dysplasia: review
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 2009The clinical and histologic features alone cannot accurately predict whether potentially malignant disorders of the oral mucosa remain stable, regress or progress to malignancy. Some of them, with or without epithelial dysplasia, may transform to invasive oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC).

Oral yeast carriage correlates with presence of oral epithelial dysplasia
Oral Oncology, 2002Previous studies have suggested a link between the presence of Candida albicans and the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The aim of the present study was to assess the presence and level of colonisation of oral yeast in patients undergoing an incisional oral mucosal biopsy in order to assess whether the amount of oral yeast present ...

Immunohistochemical Expression of MCM-2 in Oral Epithelial Dysplasias
Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology, 2018Background: Oral cancer is one of the most frequent cancers in the world. It arises from epithelial dysplasia. Hence, identifying these lesions in an early stage could prevent their malignant transformation. The aim of the present work was to assess the cell proliferative activity of minichromosome maintenance protein (MCM-2 ...

Expression of p63 protein and mRNA in oral epithelial dysplasia
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 2005Background: Abnormalities in the TP53 are regarded as the most consistent findings in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Two related members of the TP53 family, p73 and p63, have shown remarkable structural similarity to TP53, indicating possible functional and biological interactions.
