The Sandawe of central Tanzania have a simpler material culture than their neighbours, but oral art is important and forms an indispensable part of their lives. They are a nation of singers rather than of poets; all poetry is minor verse but it is found everywhere: in story-telling , in dance, and in ritual.

A Pentaradial and Bilateral Combined Photoreception System in the Sea Cucumber is Mediated by a Blue Light‐Sensitive R‐Opsin

The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.

Longitudinal Morphomolecular Monitoring of Head and Neck Carcinogenesis

A miniaturized endoscopic probe that integrates Raman spectroscopy and optical coherence tomography, enabling simultaneous molecular and structural imaging of living tissue, was developed. Applied longitudinally in a mouse model of head and neck cancer, the system tracks disease progression from precancerous lesions to invasive cancer.
